“Even if only slight, sketchy or unfinished, a drawing or a painting is a summary of something much bigger, a ‘precipitate of impressions’…”

A contemporary visual artist now based in Ulft (The Netherlands) after a 12-yr stay in Melbourne (Australia), I sketch, draw and paint. I capture the essence of what it is that I see or feel: the emotion, the mood, the tension, the movement. I do that in all media, from charcoal sketches on paper to oil paintings on linen. In short, I make timeless works of art, in any technique and with any medium.
I currently have my studio in the historic former prison cell complex De Kruisberg Gevangenis in Doetinchem (The Netherlands).

Memberships
While living in Australia, I was a signatory member of the Australiatorian Artists’ Society and a member of the Hawthorn and the Hobsons Bay Artist Societies, all in Melbourne.
After having moved back to The Netherlands in August 2022, I am now a member of artists’ societies Het Breekijzer (Ulft) (also board member) and Het Web (Doetinchem) (also member of balloting committee).

Teaching
Art Workshops and Classes
2024. Invited by Museum Villa Mondriaan in Winterswijk (NL) to give a life drawing workshop at the occasion of the opening of an the exhibition ‘EIGENBEELDIG’ featuring works of Piet Mondriaan, Karel Apple and Philip Akkerman.
2022-present. Amphion Cultuurbedrijf (Doetinchem, The Netherlands), private tutoring for individuals and groups in my studio and at other venues.

Recognition
I have been a finalist in various art prize competitions in Australia, the UK and The Netherlands
In 2023, I was selected to participate in the 2024 edition of the Dutch TV show ‘The Rembrandt Project.’

Works have been purchased for use in the Netflix series ‘Clickbait’ and have been used as book-illustrations.
